Back to school: EXAMS!!

Everyone is back from having three weeks off for the Christmas holidays. Slowly, slowly people are getting back into routine and good teaching and learning is continuing. Our high school students are all busy with exams: grade 6 to 9 until next week Wednesday, and grade 10 to 12 until the end of January.

We wish all our Christian Orthodox friends a happy new year for tomorrow. School will be closed for pupils, but teachers will be in for a Professional Development training day.

Exciting news: some of our teachers and pupils will be part of the filming of a movie on Monday afternoon. A production company is making use of the school building to use in their movie called "Pencils". More news will be posted after Monday...

Jaffa Parade

Colourful, joyful and bringing everyone together. This is how to describe the annual Christmas parade along Yeffet street in Jaffa. Many of our pupils could be seen wearing various costumes from angels to Santas. Joined by what must have been thousands of Jaffa residents, the scout group bands of Jaffa marched to well-know Christmas favourites like Jingle Bells and Gloria in excelsis deo. A very fitting and special way to start the Christmas festivities!

Christmas Holidays!

After a long and busy term, we are finally enjoying a bit of a break until 11th January 2010.

The term ended with the usual Christmas productions by the primary school, high school disco and high school Christmas assembly. Special thanks to the primary staff for all their input and efforts in making the productions successful and very entertaining. There was great participation from all the children! Even the many parents enjoyed it.
In the weeks leading up to the end of term the Tabeetha primary school (Reception-Grade 5) visited Kibbutz Nir Eliahu for a 'food experience' on Wednesday 9 December.
Throughout the day the children made their own orange juice, cheese, butter and pita. The children held baby chicks, patted various farm animals, ground wheat, and played a seed and tree products identification game during which, among other things, they learned where cane sugar and chocolate come from. At the end of the day the children ate the food that they had made along with fresh vegetables provided by the Kibbutz. Fun was had by all.
