What an exciting honour it has been to be involved with the making of Peace Wall number 284 here in Jaffa. Today we were part of the opening ceremony of the wall in Kedem street, Jaffa. The wall is part of the
CITYarts worldwide project. To quote the aim of the project from the CITYarts Mosaic Peace Wall Fact sheet: "
To connect Arab and Jewish Israeli youth to each other and to their peers around the world, including 40 countries that have already been engaged in the Pieces for Peace project, through the process of creating a mosaic Peace Wall."
Many of our pupils were involved with helping during the evening, including being part of the Arab-Jewish Choir and with showing the visitors the wall with the peace mosaic which they helped to create.
Here Mrs. Linda Rosenthal, our art teacher, stands with Arda Hindoyan, grade 11, in front of her pomegranate mosaic which is part of the Peace Wall.
We had three of our pupils deliver a short speech describing the work and how Tabeetha has been involved.
Mr. Ron Huldai, Mayor of Tel Aviv/Jaffa also graced us with his presence and spoke about the importance of such projects for the city of Jaffa and Tel Aviv.
Each participant received a certificate and T-shirt to remember the special occasion.
