12 Days of Christmas Tabeetha style

Our Student Council made this highly entertaining video showing their interpretation of the well-know Christmas song "The 12 Days of Christmas". It was screened at the Secondary Christmas Assembly on Friday and had the whole hall in stitches!

End of term

We are in the last days of the first term of this school year 2012-2013. Soon our focus will be on March 2013 when we will be celebrating 150 years of the school's existence, but right now our focus has been on Christmas activities and Grade 6 to 9 exams. The past few days have been filled with celebrations. On Tuesday we had the Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2 Christmas Show which was all about the ABCs of Christmas. Yesterday Grade 3, 4 and 5 introduced us to "Joseph, the Joiner's Family". Both shows were really enjoyable and entertaining. Well done to teachers and pupils for all the great work you have done!

Christmas 2012

As usual the school takes on a different look and feel during this time. Christmas decorations adorn the hallways and classrooms and Christmas music can be heard wafting through the air as it is blasted through the school intercom system.

The festivities are enjoyed by both staff and pupils, as we are all preparing for the various Christmas shows and assemblies.

Staff are enjoying "Secret Santa". Secondary are preparing for the Student Council disco which will take place next Wednesday night. Primary will be having a Christmas Fair next Thursday morning. Midst all these festivities, Grade 6, 7, 8 and 9 pupils are busy writing their Winter Exams. Grade 10, 11 and 12 pupils will be writing their all-important trial exams in January.

Our Christmas holidays are from 22 December to 7 January 2013, and we return to school on 8 January 2013. On our return we will be full-speed into the preparations for the 150th Anniversary Celebrations which will be taking place in the week of 8 to 16 March 2013.

Back to school

On the first day of school, pupils, parents and staff were met with 150 blue balloons tied at various places around the school to mark the beginning of our 150th year. New T-shirts have been designed and every pupil and teacher received one of these shirts as a gift.

We have been back at school now for two weeks. The dust has settled and the timetable is running smoothly. We have about 60 new pupils in the school, so we had a gathering at break time on Friday where new pupils had an opportunity to meet each other and share some snacks and drinks together with the management. It was a wonderful time and pupils were chatting away and interacting with each other and sharing stories. We have 329 pupils in the school, from over 30 different countries including Scotland!

We are all excited to be back and see the changes to the school - the new Jane Walker-Arnott Peace Garden and new entrance area into the Music Room, as well as the enlarged Art Room and the shading area over the basketball court.

Work continues...

The upgrading of the facilities continues with the foundations for the shading being dug today. Hopefully all the work will be completed by the end of August.

This year we are opening up another entrance to the "Music room" as well as making the Art room bigger. We will also be putting more shading up on the playground as well as have some of the gardens landscaped.

Grade 6 castles

Exams are over and the dust has settled from getting the results. Next we look forward to many different activities happening over the next two weeks as we head to the finish-line and closing of yet another school year. We have a surfing trip for grade 6, a visit to Ramat HaChayal school for grade 6 and 7, a beach party, and a visit to Neve Shalom. We also have graduation for grade 5 and of course graduation for grade 12.

Recently grade 6 built models of castles as part of their History course. These amazing works of art are on display in the school hall.

Many things happening...

Just before the Spring Holidays we had a few days of fun. We had Crazy Hair Day, Hats-and-sunglasses day and Pajama Day. Photos can be seen on our website.

Since returning from Spring Holidays there has been a lot going on in our little school. Grade 10, 11 and 12 pupils have started their final external exams. We wish them all the best and may they sow what they reap! We have had various trips and activities enjoyed by many of our pupils including grade 6 and 7 meeting up with grade 7 pupils from the Ramat Ha'chayal school from Tel Aviv, where they participated in music, sport and Hip Hop lessons together.

Grade 3 experienced a great trip to Jaffa today. The following is from a letter sent to the grade 3 parents today by their class teacher:

We had a terrific day today in Jaffa.  With Mr Glick guiding us, we learnt a lot about Old Jaffa.  We began the day at the clock tower then made our way to the American Colony to see the only remaining house made of wood.  We then saw some very old photos of Jaffa shown on a projector which was more than 100 years old.  The children had a great time with Johan’s father at his church.  They heard the organ and even got a chance to ring the Church Bells!  We enjoyed a break by the old train station and then ended the day at Jaffa port, enjoying a boat ride on the Mediterranean Sea! The children even had the opportunity to steer the boat!

Thank you to Finat’s mother and Liam’s father for coming with us today. Thank you to Johan’s Mother and Father for welcoming us into their Church.

I had a great day and am very proud of the Grade 3 class for behaving beautifully the entire day.
