Trips...

Grade 6 and 7 were given lessons by the Israeli Archaeological Society a few weeks before their trip to Tel-Afek where they were instructed on the purpose of Archaeology, the way that it is done, and various findings in Israel. Once there, one class went on a guided nature hike where we learned how to tell the age of turtles, how to track snakes in sand, ways that different flowers attract bees, and other items of interest. The other group worked on an archaeological site which is part of a fort that was originally built 3,500 years ago by the Egyptians, followed by the Greeks, Crusaders, and Turks in order to protect the fresh water source from the HaYarkon River nearby. We found 2000 year old pottery bits and parts of ancient perfume bottles. After the dig, the classes switched roles. An exciting educational day was had by all.

Our grade 11 and 12 pupils had a few days in Eilat as a break from their studies. The trip was a great success and everyone was able to blow off some steam before getting down to the serious business of revision for the final exams, which begin in a few weeks.
