A few weeks ago we had some visitors from "Nohar Event Planners" (Luminosity Productions) who are managing the 90th Birthday event of President Shimon Peres later this month.
Our grade 6 pupils sang the verse from the song "Give Peace a Chance" by John Lennon. They also wished Shimon Peres best wishes in English, Hebrew and Arabic as well as the many other languages we have here at school. This was all captured on video, which will be played at the Birthday event on 18th June.
Soon after this we were contacted by a representative of the company who invited us to perform the song, live on stage, with about 50 other children from all over the country. Last week, we were invited to a recording studio in Tel Aviv to record the track. We chose 12 grade 5 pupils to go along. It was an amazing experience and our children acted like professional singers!
Many thanks to Alexis Gitman, our music teacher, for preparing the children so well, and also thanks to Eve Singerman, grade 5 class teacher and Raeda Girem who helped with the Arabic singing. We look forward to the actual event on 18th June, which will be televised live on all the major Israeli channels! The event will be attended by many dignitaries, including foreign presidents and other famous celebrities, like Barbra Streisand.
